Dr Patrizia Collard takes this one-day seminar and workshop. Dr Collard is joined by Chris Mitchell, a man with Asperger’s syndrome and author of Asperger's Syndrome and Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a therapeutic method which can be used for children, young people and adults with or without ASD. Mindfulness based interventions have been used in clinical settings since the 1980’s and there is supporting research evidence that practising mindful intervention can help relieve stress, anxiety, anger, and obsessive and phobic behaviours. Special focus is given to helping parents and professionals stay emotionally balanced when working with or caring for this client group. Therapists may find the techniques demonstrated in this workshop/seminar useful additions to their practice. This seminar and workshop is for all who work with and/or care for someone with ASD and for anyone who is interested in using Mindfulness for the benefit of individuals with ASD.
